Jimmy's dad was a researcher at Crey Industries studying how various metals and compounds could be modified to make them more resistant to fire. Over time he made a solution that would actually increase the resistance of objects when exposed to heat.
Unfortunately Jimmy's dad was paranoid that someone would steal not only his research, but his newly created solution.
