"The Hero Cop of Galaxy City." Good God , that's as embarrassing to hear as it is to see it in print. At the risk of veering into just-doing-my-job territory, what else could we have done? My partner and I weren't going to leave those people to fend for themselves, not if we ever planned on facing ourselves in the mirror again.
The "daring escape?" Well sure, it was a little risky, but it was basically the least bad choice. There was no way we were making our way through wall-to-wall Shivans to reach the beachhead Longbow had established, and hopping on the Yellow Line was hardly an option. The way I figured it, sneaking into Perez Park and getting to Steel Canyon via the Boneyard was our best bet. I figured the Skulls would be too busy keeping their heads down to mess with us.
Well of course I didn't expect to run into the Kraken! I know heroes who've been at it for ten years that have never seen a full-grown Hydra.

My lab’s research into gravitic manipulation was funded as a DATA/NASA joint venture with an eye toward asteroid impact avoidance; the idea is that any large body headed toward Earth can be shoved off course, avoiding the need to do anything drastic (like detonating a nuke or worse). We were too late to save Galaxy City, but the prototypes have been incorporated into a cybernetic control rig, which I’m now using in an extended field test.
