PC Safety Alert: Update your Java Client
January 12, 2012 - 9:12am
Updating the software on your PC is always a good idea, especially when it's something almost all of us use on a daily basis like the JAVA JRE. For those of you not familiar with JAVA, most of us have this plugin installed to view content on the web, and it often comes prepackaged with many of the games we buy and/or play online.
There's been a huge surge in malware infections that come from tainted ads around the web. No interaction with these ads are required, they simply sit in your internet cache and launch their malicious nature quietly in the background with no warning until it's too late for you to do much besides panic and perform a clean install of your machine. I've dealt with over a dozen of these types of infections over the past month
The good news is, it's easy to avoid - simply update your Java client
I'm including some handy links for those of you that might not know where to go. And these new versions will keep a small process in the background running to alert you when future updates/patches are available.
