New player...almost
November 12, 2010 - 7:41pm
Hey there! My name is Budric, and I'm a 22 year old gaming veteran, and my trial for COH is almost up. I've been searching around for the perfect MMO for me, I knew there was one out there somewhere, and I do believe this is it! I'm going to try to convince my girlfriend to join as well, we both play borderlands and l4d on steam (she's new to PC gaming, it's so cute), and have tried a few free MMOs in the past, but even if she doesn't take the hook, I'll be here at least!
I've been a gamer for as far back as I can remember, and prefer to have a good time while making progress, so I guess I'm a hardcore casual gamer? Preferred genres are free-roaming, FPS, simulation, and RPG, but I like to mix it up. Any game with ragdoll physics generally ensures a few laughs from me.

That's a pretty good question. Should be someone for everything around here, so it'd be good to know what you're looking for as a general thing.

Also, what kinds of characters are needed right now? My natural tendency is towards blasters or masterminds, but I like to find a niche and fill it, so if anyone knows of any shortages, and could teach me the strategic benefits of such a character, I'm pretty flexible.
One of the most prevalent attitudes among our members is that we strongly encourage people to play what they want. What the group "needs" is far less important than what you enjoy as an individual. Besides most of our long-time players can field any type of character to fill in the holes. As for silliness? We don't take too much too seriously around here. Much of our sense of community comes from the goofy stuff we say or do over our voice-comm, Ventrillo. If you'd rather have fun than earn the phat l00ts you'll fit in well around here.

Yea what Marq said. Being able to, encouraged is probably a better way to say it, play what you have fun with is probably one of the best aspects of this group. It really gives you the chance to try out a lot of different things and really get creative with the characters you play without having to worry about ''will this character fit in.''
What sort of characters do you play in other games? In my experience Masterminds and Blasters are pretty different.

One quick question, too: Does punching enemies off roofs ever get boring? Because i see myself going out of the way for it in the future :D
Nope. Never gets old. I once transferred a copy of my main to the test server and six slotted a knockback power with knockback enhancements. I punched a level 1 mob off of a building and he landed six blocks away.Good times, good times.

That's good, but Wormholing a whole spawn of level 1's 100 yards into the air and watching it rain Hellions...good times.

Even better is when you can time it with a Fire Blaster to throw Fireball just as they teleport. It follows them into the sky and then hits them as they fall. It looks just like fireworks. Now that we can color the powers, we could have a really good fireworks show.
This should be done at night.
