Adversity Event #35: Dr. Quaterfield Task Force, Part 1
Submitted by Ember Rose on September 7, 2010 - 1:14pm
Taking place in the Shadow Shard, this is the longest task force in the game, spreading from the Shard back to Paragon. It's the longest TF mainly for the number of defeat all enemy missions and the traveling. Bring a jet pack or the money to buy one! With a minimum of 8 players needed to start, please sign up to reserve your spot.
The level range is 40-44. You get the Portal Smasher badge and 122 merits.
Use a toon that is not your main. We will be finishing this in 3 parts and it's going to suck if we have to finish it with two people because everyone else used their main character. Please plan accordingly.
Dr. Quaterfield Task Force
We will only be completing the mission objectives but with all the defeat all's, XP will not be scarce. Can't wait to see you there!
Part #1: We will be completing the following section of the Task Force. If we feel like going on that's great but no sense in getting frustrated.
2.1 Agree to form a task force
2.1.1 Fight Rularuu around Foxtrot
2.1.2 Rescue exploration team- Someone with stealth would be helpful here. We are not going to kill everything in the mission. We just need to rescue the exploration team.
2.2 Defeat Shard Creatures to see if they have any scavenged equipment
2.3 Rescue field team at point X-Ray
2.3.1 Defeat Rularuu at X-Ray
2.3.2 Rescue the Explorers
2.4 Gather evidence of Crey presence in Shadow Shard
2.5 Rescue scientists and prove Crey presence
2.6 Battle Crey in the Shadow Shard
2.7 Strike Crey forward explorers- Two waves of ambushes after we defeat Protector 100-100-1
The next section will start the shutdown of the bases that we are finding information on so it is a logical place to stop in the storyline.

I SHOULD be able to make this - even if it will take more than one week. The toughest thing for me will be to switch one of my high level toons red side (have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE Going Rogue?).

While I would like to run this. you are starting it on a Sunday morning. Which means "there is no way in hell that FX will be able to make it"
Good luck though. You'll need it

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH

Thanks Lady I needed a good laugh.
While I could "pop in" just in case, wouldn't that screw up the numbers?

Please re-read the event for the mission listing.
A few requests from the Cruise Director if you are even thinking about participating in this TF. It never hurts to have extra things even if you might or might not make it:
-Please purchase a jet pack for your TF toon before Sunday morning. If you need money, let someone know beforehand so that we are ready to go.
-Update your enhancements and empty salvage and recipes before Sunday morning. It's not fair to the people who are ready to wait for you to do maintenance.
-Put your toon in the Shard before Sunday morning.
I'm not trying to be rude but with such a long Task Force any preparation that can be done before the morning of would be appreciated. Thank you!

Its also worth noting that we only have 5 people signed up at this time. The TF requires EIGHT. Without the minimum necessary to start signed up within the next 36 hours we're probably just going to scrap the whole idea.
It would also help to know what you're getting into:

Love the suggestions, Ember. Can you tell mehow to get to the Shard, though? I've never been there before, so I have no idea where it is....

If only there was some kind of electronic repository of knowledge, that was easily searched for the info you seek.Sorry I couldn't resist.

The shard is accessed through Portal Corp. If you look on your map in Peregrine Island you'll see a door icon.

We had a really decent start on the TF, I think. Just about everything melted before the onslaught of 7 damage dealers and a plodding hunk of rock. (I know one was a /kin troller, but really, with Fulcrum Shift, over half of our damage came from the troller so, is it really NOT a damage dealer...?) I'm looking forward to finishing in a couple weeks! I've actually never completed this one! There's not a lot of game content that I haven't seen yet, so I'll be glad to say I've done it.

Sorry I couldn't make it! Still having computer issues (as in, I don't have a computer that can even log on yet; though I'm trying to get my brother's laptop cleaned up enough to actually run the game until I have one of my own up and running. Was looking forward to this, so I hope we can do it again sometime!

On that note, does anyone know of a good bind to make me a better crack-monkey? Keeping a full team SB'd, healed, in the blue, and FS'd is kinda hectic!

You were awesome, Doc, really. There was a total of like 25 seconds in the ENTIRE DAY that my stoney ass was not cracked up, the, uh, crack. You could bind/whatnot, but being a kineticist with 7 other team members can often be a labor of ADHDness. Good kins seem to fit in the realm of OCD as well: "Ah!!! the green sock icon is blinking on members 5,6,and 7!!! Click the SBeees buttons now!!!" I didn't feel like you needed to be a better crack dealer. And this coming from a granite tanker.
As for binds with kin-ing, I don't use them, but when I play my kin, I just use the number keys for the kin powers, and end up keeping my pointer in the team box. I click down the list and hit 7 or whatever SB is after each click. Unless someone says ZZZ, or specifically asks for it, I skip ID on my teamates, it only lasts a minute, and that'll take up all your time if you let it.

As you're aware I'm extremely bind/macro- centric. I do NOT recommend relying on macros to be a more effective Kin. Kin is one of those sets that really requires the player to be "in the moment" and binds and macros can often make a player lazy. Note that I have not called you lazy. I'm merely making a generalization based on my years of observation.

Thanks for the kind words all. All I'm really looking for is something I can use to quickly cycle through my teammates. Maybe it would make me lazy, but it would be SO much faster than hunting for the stupid mouse pointer when I lose it..
