AMD Drops ATI Brand Name

According to mashable.com AMD has decided to discard the ATI brand name.
Now, after conducting market research which showed that the AMD and Radeon brand are strong enough, AMD has decided it doesn’t need the name ATI anymore. Current products will not be renamed, but we can expect to see the first AMD Radeon products later this year.

An intriguing move - but I wonder how many will notice. I think it's great to have competition between Nvidia and AMD, if nothing else, it drives innovation, lower price points, and more awesome features.
On a side note, after purchasing my first ever Nvidia card at the beginning of 2010, I doubt I'll ever be going back to AMD for my video card needs. Nvidia for teh win

I disagree. I've never had an nVidia product that has been as good as my ATI stuff.

I am long lover Nvidia cards, but my new laptop has an ATI and i must confess it has been a pleasent surprise
