Cathedral of Pain Trial
Submitted by Ember Rose on August 24, 2010 - 7:20am
One of the best things about this trial is that everyone can participate- you are allowed up to 24 characters and, while Level 50 toons are recommended, anyone from Level 35-50 can join us. The trial is balanced for 3 teams of Level 50 players so the more people we have, the better chance we will actually complete this.
We must have a base with a missions computer/oracle and a raid telepad/raid portal to start the trial and if we have more than one leader, they all must be in the hosting Supergroup. Members of the team can be in various SGs.
According to the Patch Notes, you will receive Merit Rewards, Temporary Powers and might earn a rare badge. Yup, there's badges involved.
We will be fighting Soldiers of Rularuu, Psionic Resonators and Rularuu himself. It's going to be an epic fight so come out and join us!

Please don't take this the wrong way but...
Cathedral of Pain? Us?
I don't think that's really possible. From the mountain of testing done during beta there were several observations that are relevant. The trial takes more than 20 people to complete. It's on a strict timer (60 minutes I think). Groups where even a single member was not aware of what was required failed in every instance. The only groups who succeeded were informed, had a tight strategy, executed flawlessly. This trial is meant for the hardcore. That doesn't sound like us at all.

I'd like to try it regardless. We tried it a few years ago when it was briefly live and I had a lot of fun.

I think it would be fun to try, but I don't have any character villain side that I would even remotely think might complete this, let alone win it. If, however, we planned far in advance, I could get a character high enough to be of some help, and we should be able to practice strategy (novel concept, I know
) with Going Rogue.
All in all, I just don't think we are ready YET; but give it a bit of time and I think we would have a chance. Though maybe I'm just thinking about my own skill level.....

Well, I'm in agreement to some of the others who say its nearly impossible even with the most hardcore of peeps, but I'm in anyway
I'll just make sure to pad my chair a bit more for the inevitable ass kicking WOO!

I find it's best when you accept defeat first, then greet it with a smile.

We completed this trial when it was released an year ago. Needs numbers and coordination, not necessarily hardcore or ultra buffed characters.
Not sure I'll be able to attend on Sunday though.

Well, the Cathedral of Pain Trial didn't happen, but 8 members of Adversity and Company ran a successful Eden Trial instead in around 1.5 hours. The rest of us ran around in Praetoria in a mixed Loyalists and Resistance team - most of us with brand new characters.
Attendance has been updated and recorded, including a few members who were running solo but kept us company in Vent/Global Chat. Let me know if I missed anyone

Want to know the best time to cause destruction? Right after that first sip of coffee. You know what I mean. You take that first sip and you can feel the caffeine making it's way into your blood, coursing through your veins and making you wide, wide awake. That tingle you get when the coffee hits your stomach and you think to yourself, "That is a good cup of coffee. I'm going to drink the rest of that. But first- that police officer is looking at me funny (maybe it's the tights?). I'm going to have to fix that. Hey! Bystander! Hold my drink, I have to kick some ass. But don't drink it. I'll kill you. No, seriously, I'll kill you. Don't drink my coffee. You know what, nevermind. That coffee is too good. Walk on, police officer. Today is your lucky day."
