GoRo: Badge alert! UPDATED

I know some of us love our badges. I also know that most of us are gonna blow through the Praetorian tutorial. Don't miss the badge!
Speak to Rothstein during the subway segment of the tutorial. He's standing in the center of hte big room fending off waves of Ghouls. Click on him at the beginning of the fight and again when the waves stop.
Click on all dialog choices marked "(optional)" to get the Avid Reader badge.
I'm not sure how much of that is necessary but that's how I've done it.
If you don't keep him alive during the Ghoul attack he won't be there later to award you the badge!

I think there's one particular question you have to ask him which gives you a follow-up question which then prompts him to hand you an ACTUAL badge. I never spoke with him before the fight, so I'm fairly sure that isn't necessary. What I'm NOT sure is how much it's necessary to do "other" optional things. Almost every contact in the tutorial has one optional line of dialogue which leads to a mini-conversation, usually providing lore background, or hints thereof. I tried to do all of this and I got the badge, but I also didn't do all of it on Test and I still got the badge. I suspect it might be just what you say to the Resistance guy that matters.
To elaborate on what "other" things I mean, you can chat up Dr. Steffard about hospital reclimators, and you can chat up the reprogrammed clockwork about the clockwork language, which I'm told a Tech character would be able to expand on. I don't remember much about the others.

You don't need to click on him at the beginning of the fight.
