Super Booster Ideas
June 16, 2010 - 4:09pm
Today I was sort of inspired to take a stab at a pack I think would be neat. I've got some other ideas, but they're harder to translate and will take more time to do. If anyone wants to see the thread and hasn't done so, then go here.
Though the one thing I really want to see added isn't exactly booster pack worthy - I just want to see new patterns, including asymmetrical patterns as well as a one sleeve option for tops and gloves that go up to the bicep area.
In any case, what I did today was elemental/energy themed.

Ice, fire and rock/lava. The parts outlined in purple are just some armor like parts to spice it up - I realize fire would be tricky since it can't move.

Energy, with an electricity effect on the right as an option.
I think the next one I am gonna tackle will be a fantasy themed one, drawing some inspiration from Aion. Though if anyone has an ideas, I could try and tackle them too.

Razor, these are pretty good, especially the energy dude. I'd kill to have that costume in-game. I would definitely suggest you post those in at least David's generic All Things Art thread. He needs to see them. He's proven to be a cool guy that sees things as an artist and a player without handwaving them away as a developer, so he's not beyond being convinced.

Ok, rushed the armored one and I think it's the weakest of the three...it was one of the harder ones to do.

Those are neat too! The middle one can only be described as "swashbuckling", while the last one has a cowboy-ish look to it

Thanks Razor!

You know what else would be awesome? Those golden snake armbands that coil around a girls bicep.

As much as I hate to do this.
I agree with Rich.

Yes, even applied for a position as a concept artist a while back, but nothing came of it.
You may want to reapply. THey used to only have about 10 people working on the game. My understanding is that now it's near 100.

Epic and awesome drawings Razor, I only pray that some of these ideas get seen and made a reality, especially the armored ones

I spotted your designs on the official forums, and I have to say again - those are great. The lot of them. I REALLY love the armour designs you have there. Jay's armour has always felt kind of... Alien to me. Like something the Decepticons or the Protoss would come up with. Your design feels a lot more HUMAN to me, like the kind of tech we might produce in the not-too-distant future. It actually reminds me of something like what the human marines had in Aliens, or what Isaac was wearing in Dead Space. Utilitarian tech, vs glass spires and togas tech.
I honestly feel there's a lot of room for that kind of tech in the game, and I hope Jay reconsiders his alien approach.

Razor your designs are a huge hit on the official forums. Even David Nakayama showed some love. I added my voice to the din crying for the Devs to put you on the payroll.

Yeah, Razor, you were a smash hit. There's a whole line of people saying "Hire this guy!" Maybe you should apply again
Seriously, though - that was a good show, and you deserve the praise. Those were some smashing designs.
