The last of the origin themed booster packs was enabled on Test. This particular pack is the mutant themed one, and it's a bit different than what most expected.

The pack includes two costume sets - Organic Armor and Bioluminescent. Both sets feature glows over various parts of the body - keep in mind these are not glows like auras. These glows are just parts of the artwork that ignores the ambient lighting, which gives the appearance of glowing. Also included are two regular emotes (growl and showoff) and three costume emotes (rapid boil, dimension shift and energy morph). Lastly there is a self buff power called Secondary Mutation, you get some random buff that lasts for some duration.

Here's some pics I took this morning -

Bioluminescent

Organic Armor (with lesser armored feet/gloves) doing growl emote

Part of the show off emote

Rapid Boil costume change - you break out in green blisters/bubbles that burst with you in the new costume

Dimension Shift costume change - The other bodies slide out, then it all comes back together, flashes brightly and your costume is changed.

Energy Morph costume change - Basically this is like the terminator time travel

That stuff looks great!

I was under the impression that this set was going to include animal heads but I guess I was wrong. Still, what is there is neato.

Maybe they didn't want to make animal heads an exclusive.

Love the organic armour. I'm sure it will send Pax back to the tailor to retool some of his TF costumes! big grin

The Costume emotes are pretty extreme, which is a good sign that the team is trying to do even the little things in a big way.

Art Lead David Nakayama confirms that the whats on test is currently incomplete. Specifically he references missing tails and animal heads.

He confirmed tails and a sword, but not heads. Nor actually monster feet, which confounds me. Overall, I'm disappointed in the thing the pack DOESN'T have, because it seemed to make sense to have them. I mean... You make a mutation pack and DON'T touch the monstrous options? Um... Why?

I'm still buying the pack, though, largely for the new wings. The glowy stuff is cool, but I want to see it used in more generic costume pieces before I'll gush out over it.

Nice addition...

Speaking of additions, there is this bit of news.

Quote:
City of Heroes® Super Booster V: Mutant goes on sale at the NCsoft store on June 24th. But you could have it for free, BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!

On Wednesday, June 23rd, we're giving away 10 free North American codes and 10 free European codes that you can use to unlock City of Heroes® Super Booster V: Mutant on your account, before it even goes on sale!

It's not too complicated...just keep your eyes on one of the following City of Heroes® communication channels: Message Boards (City Life - CoH & CoV General Discussion for U.S. players and The European Lounge for European players), Facebook and Twitter. We will randomly release two codes an hour (anytime within that hour) on those channels. Even we won't know which channel each code will go up on until we randomly pick it out of the hat, so be on the ball! Both codes for the hour could go out on the same channel or different ones...we'll all find out on the 23rd! Its first come, first served... so when you see a code simply be the first one to claim it by applying it to your account and it's yours! You will be the envy of everyone in-game as you run around adorned with all the Mutant-tastic goodies that no one else can get their hands until the next day!

Here's how to try and claim a Super Booster V: Mutant code once we start releasing them:

Please note: You MUST have an active City of Heroes game account in order to apply a code!

The 24th? Ugh... That's too far away, I'm afraid. Can't stick with the same Blaster I wanted to get new wings for for another whole week if I'm just about burned out on her even now. And while I appreciate the advance chance codes, it's just a day in advance, so I don't see the difference. Oh, well. Sit and wait, I guess.
