STO Exec Producer wants players to be able to wander their own ships

We asked Zinkievich if captains might be able to explore their own vessels one day, perhaps chill out in Ten Forward, have an adventure in the Holodeck, or take a nap in their own quarters in between battling Klingons or fighting off the Borg.

That's definitely good news. Hopefully we'll also be able to explore our friend's ships as well, once they have the tech fleshed out

Just a heads up for the STO players, you can visit your own bridge and invite others to join you.
Click the arrow by the mini map and then select Visit Bridge.

Yup. It will be a cool feature, but unless they put some practical features in it (a Bank, a Taylor, the Exchange, some new feature) it will be used about as much as an empty base is in CoH. People wander it once to say, 'Cool design!' and then go back to playing the game.
They've mentioned player created content in the future, though, so it would be interesting to implement that through an on board Holodeck. They may have some other ideas for on ship features as well. Of course, in the lore, my little Escort wouldn't be equiped with a Holodeck.....
