Sean O'Conner was a low-level thug knocking around the Hell's Kitchen area of New York City. He would probably never amounted to anything, but fate stepped in and changed everything. Sean was on a heist with a couple of "friends" of his, attempting to steal some electronics from a warehouse in the hood. Everything was going fine until one of the punks thought it would be fun to burn down the warehouse to cover their tracks. Well, his "pal" started the fire too soon for Sean to get out and he was trapped in the inferno. Sean found a spot near the back to hide from the flames until he could think of something to do, when KABOOM. The fire had ignited some unusual looking drums near his hideout. These drums held a new experimental coolant designed to keep processors cool during operation. But open flame was definetly not a good mix with this volatile liquid. Sean woke up several hours later in the hospital with massive burns over 90% of his body. The funny thing is that he healed very quickly and almost perfectly. The doctors were astonished, but released him after some tests to verify he was physically ok. Now Sean, not being very forgiving, looked up his former "friend" and was very angry with him. In fact, the more angry he got the hotter his body temp got. Sean realized he could raise the temperature around him drastically. In fact, he could cause flames to errupt at will. This is exactly what his former "friend" experienced. Somehow Sean could cause fire but had trouble controlling it. He, also, noted that pain did not affect him like it had in the past. Sean sstarted out on a career to pay back a few thugs for past wrongs. In the process, made a lot of money as an enforcer. He used his money to build a containment suit to help him with his ever-erroding control. And Flaming Griffon rose from the ashes like a Phoenix. FG has to continue to build better containment suits to allow him to help control his power. It seems to be a never ending cycle, that has only one ending. With Flaming Griffon going up in smoke......
