Introduction Thread: Solid State Entity
Posted on: Fri, 09/05/2008 - 3:02pm

Hi all,
My name is Solid State Entity, or Solid, or Brian if you want to take all the mystery out of it (grins).
Anyhow, as my title mentions, I am very, very new to the game. I've had it for about a week. I have a whole host of chars running around right now, of course, as I feel out the different archetypes. My highest level char is Burning Chrome, a lvl 14 fire/fire tanker, but the one I am having the most fun with right this moment is my lvl 8 robot/trap mastermind, Boardwalk. I really, really want to play a controller, but I just couldn't get my min/max tendency to justify it without having a guild around to justify developing all that nifty group-friendliness.
Since all of my chars are so low level, I have to frankly admit that I don't have any assets, per se, to contribute to the guild. However, I love playing with other people, friendly chatting, and helping out on stuff whenever I can.
I have some experience grouping, a couple of years of WoW, Diablo II, etc, but that probably just means that I will understand what you want me to do when you explain it - not that you won't have to explain it.
Anyhow, that's me. Oh yeah, I'm a mid-thirties former software engineer, turned Air Force cop, turned current law school student living in Nashville. Right now, honestly, I am having a ton of fun coming up with backstories and creating characters - that's worth the price of admission. However, I am already starting to see that City of Heroes/Villains really shines in the group experience, with so many character abilities oriented for that purpose - so I wanted to go ahead and hook up with some good folks.

On the channel Dragon mentioned we have SG leaders and members that you can talk to start the application process. Not sure how much I'll be able to play on this weekend, but Orion Pax runs weekend morning teams, starting at 10 pm EST. And we have scheduled teams running from Monday to Wednesday, starting at 8 or 9 pm EST.

I had a great time playing in the Lackey Villains night. You folks have a great place here, with a really open and friendly membership. I'm looking forward to playing together some more.
I'm a little irregular in terms of play times, but although I am employed full time, my job right now is to go to school. Currently, I have managed the near Utopian arrangement of having classes only on Wed, Thurs, Fri - so I will be around a great deal at least until the end of the semester.
I expect to make it to a couple of the events each week and do a good bit of additional playing.
I like the system alot, and there is just an enormous amount of interesting content to explore. Prior to coming over to CoH/V I had tried out Age of Conan, and was planning on that being my major game for quite a while, but I found it really, really weak for a variety of reasons.
So I expect CoH/V will take up quite a bit of my free time.
