Anyone have a Spec guide for primarily pve stuff; that is recent? I6 was a completely different game. So...

My current spec has all the powers out of my secondary pool (Storm) It's an ok build, but I'd like to do a major overhaul... currently If I were to repec, I'd probably just switch super jump to fly and get hasten back...

Ok, here's what I came up with... I didn't put in an epic, though if I did I would have gone with Primal Forces for Conserve Power and Power Boost - Temp Invuln is also nice as combining it with Steamy Mist will give you decent res to almost everything.

I didn't grab the immobs, especially the AoE, since they will screw up Ice Slick (the ice immob, much like the fire immob, prevent KB/KD for those not in the know).

I put in Shiver, but you can swap it with Arctic Air if you like...either one when combined with Ice Slick is almost like a ghetto hold - they slow things to a crawl so they can't really attack or even really move.


Lastly, the slotting is set up to take advantage of purple IO's if you are into those. To me, for most powers with IO's you really only need to 5 slot, unless you're looking for certain bonuses.

Not knocking your build but there are a lot of things I don’t agree with in that build. Here is a different perspective on it.

Your right about the AoE holds not working well with Ice slick, but they Do work well with both Tornado & lightning storm.

I wouldn’t go with fly because this build works better with acrobatics.

O2 boost is ok to have, but it is skippable.

Shiver is not worth having because you get enough slows from the other powers to cap it.

Flash freeze is a sleep, and situational at best, I’d skip it.

A big part of the utility in Storm are all the knockback/knockdown effects. Why would you want to piss off everything and keep them in a position to freely attack you by using an the immob?

Sleeps are situational, yes, but considering alternatives...it's something you can toss 5 purple IO's into (cheaply I might add) and get great bonuses.

Some of the purple sets are very cheap, in fact for sleeps and confuse purple recipes you will very likely pay more for salvage than the recipes themselves.

Well yeah, when solo it’s awesome to toss the mobs all over the place, but teams will hate you for it.

Open with Ice slick and lay down the freezing rain, team runs in and the battle begins. Toss out the Frost bite to immob what’s left, open a lightning storm and sling tornadoes all while NOT knocking anything out of melee from your team mates.

Again, not knocking your play style, just looking at it from a diff side. shrug

I'm going to differ from Razor just a touch. This will most likely be my build on Splashdown when he hits 50 (currently 38). I like frostbite b/c it helps tremendously with your ability to use 3 of the best powers in /storm: Lightning Storm, Tornado, and to some extent hurricane. These three powers can cause unnecessary scatter due to their extreme KB values. The 10 seconds of -KB given by frostbite will really help keep that under control. Now,will that negate the KD of ice slick + Freezing Rain? Sure. But since IS isn't up ALL the time like it used to be, you can easily hit one group with IS + FR, and the next with FB + Tor + LS + Arctic Air. In the latter fight, the confuse of AA will act witht the fear, and stun of Tor to make for some great soft control.

I'd like to show why I picked ice mastery. First, theme. I'm not usually sucked into theme, but the idea of the ice skating rink of DOOOOOOoooooom is just too good to pass up. In addition, Frozen Armor, with CJ + Maneuvers + 3% Steadfast Protection gives you at least 33% defense to smashing/lethal! Many mezz attacks are associated with S/L damage, so you'll find that many mezes just aren't hitting like they used to. I use this idea to great effect with my fire/kin/stone troller who runs with 35.9% defense to S/L and kicks council with great prejudice. Although there is decent +res in Steamy Mist, the +defense often gives better mitigation for a squishy b/c mezzes are more likely to miss.

With that in mind, I could see Razor's build doing quite nicely, but here's my quick build.

I will post my spec when I get home from work. I think my two issues with my current build is that I can't function without fly. And I didn't get frostbite. frown

Eh. Well, It looks like i can't remember the login to Titan so I can't access my herobuilder... It should have had my previous build so I could repec back to that.

Since I can't log in it's doesn't looked can Show my build that easily.

I couldn't take a screenshot of my powers so I decided to take a picture instead. I hope this worked out where you can see the names of the powers in the picture.

If not... Eventually I'll resubscribe to the Titan thing so I can use the character builder...

Just as a heads up, you don't have to take a photo like that...just hit Print Screen on your keyboard and then open something like MS Paint and paste your screen shot there and save the image.

In any case it looks like you got your work cut out for you...

To make it easier just go with my build though

How are you surviving with no End reduction in Steamy mist!?

Freezing rain does not need 3 Acc, I find it hits all the time and I only have 1 in it.

When I tried to do a screenshot in my Enhancement managment screen it wouldn't take the picture. I have no clue to the reason.

I wish I new my account logon for Mid's hero designer and I could post my old spec but it didn't have DPS at all but nothing moved when I was on a team.

A few years ago this Ice/storm build was awesome... but I took a vacation. When I came back Jack frost, was now a solo pet and I never seen to many ice/storms after that. I don't know why they still seem to be very useful leveling all the way 1-50.

I am working on putting my spec on Mids hero designer... Currently I don't have IO sets so keep that in mind...

I think my main issue is that I've gotten lazy so I always take fly. When I originally started playing back in 2004 I always got super jump because it's a pretty fast travel power... The COT caves drove me to the fly power set.

Once I find a build, then I'm going to start working on IO sets for this toon.
