Jimmy's dad was a researcher at Crey Industries studying how various metals and compounds could be modified to make them more resistant to fire. Over time he made a solution that would actually increase the resistance of objects when exposed to heat.

Unfortunately Jimmy's dad was paranoid that someone would steal not only his research, but his newly created solution. So the researcher brought it home, for what he thought would be safe keeping and hid it in the back of his closet.

A few days later, Jimmy was rummaging through his dad's closet, looking for things he could use for his ninja costume. While digging through things, Jimmy unknowingly caused the chemical container to fall over and spill all over him...causing him to burst into flames.

The flames engulfed the house, causing it to burn down. Jimmy, however, was unharmed...though his parents were terrified of what had become of him and what a danger he posed. As a result, Jimmy was locked away in an institution with no contact with the outside world, except for a TV located outside his cell that he could watch.

The TV belonged to one of the guards, who loved to watch the old Japanese type movies featuring samurais and ninjas. Over time Jimmy wanted to be one of those ninjas when he grew up...

Eventually Jimmy learned to control his abilities, making it look like he was actually cured. This allowed for Jimmy to be released back into the world, but now Jimmy could realize his desire of being a ninja...
